Today as blue as eyes
To close
For want of futile dreams,
For faith tomorrow’s
Mindful of the beauty
In the moment used
And died away
Like so much grace,
Like no such fateful
Word is spoken
For the august close of day
Than what the auburn locks
Of sunset spoke when fleeting.

Today as blue as blood
Before the justice
Of it all to change,
The skin of every love to view
Embraced in withered turns of slate.
And sober as it speaks,
In failing breath it speaks
So sweetly of a death
I can’t but dream
Was blooming blue
Before the same.
