Perhaps I’ll fall away

Perhaps they failed to mention that this too will soon dissolve. Perhaps they never said that it’s no use to bide my time or never told me it’s an ill-composed delusion that a moment’s mine, if only for the instant, because instants like their owners evanesce. Perhaps I’m an apostle of elusive views that blind me to precisely how implausible a thought it is to hold out hope I’ll last. Perhaps my lack of judgment is the crutch I need to keep from listing with the bricks and glass as clock-ticks cause us all to settle for the days we’ve spent and words we’ve bought and sold to cull what might be meaning from the threads of smoke before we watch it all erode. Perhaps it’s all haphazard and what happens falls away without concern, and it’s just I’ve never learned to loose my grip and let it take me.
