Glass perdition

Upon arrival all the apparitions rose and spoke at once,
Polished skeins of glass to seal my perdition.
Upon a time the hours echoed in a scale of
Mirrored windows splitting,
Ill-conceived reflections of the
Depth at which my self-respect dissolves
In city blocks and pinstriped pillars
Counting minutes by the hiss
Of halogen and headlights,
These mock-heroic dials
Peeling sun from sky
And wedding shadows
With the morning
For a ghost like me
To wonder.
