Rain and soil

Someplace between these blades of grass below where ages leak and cracks entrap my afterthoughts and coffer my regrets, where soil leaches grounds for sorrow and where sediment decays the basis of apologies til nothing but a grain is left and grieving is just residue that scrapes the rougher pebbles smooth, some inward depth where light elopes with shadows so perception is a laughingstock and all of me is blind, a single drop of rain escapes and as it’s slipping past the sand and clay it clings to the reflections gathered when it fell beyond you, a mirror in the dark and cold to hold your image in the silence where I can never see or hear the storm you suffered all alone.
